Torso Armour Merc - Light Kit
The Torso Armour Merc (Light Kit) is a hybrid cuirass designed for maximum mobility and historical flair. Featuring a high-density polyurea front plate mounted on a durable leather backing, it provides the essential protection of a breastplate with a significantly lighter, maintenance-free profile.
The polyurea front is sculpted to provide focused protection for the thorax and ribcage, with a lower edge contoured to sit comfortably over the hips while guarding the pelvis. It is secured to a sturdy leather backplate at the shoulders and sides, ensuring a stable, adjustable fit over any gambeson or arming doublet.
Key Features
-
Hybrid Construction: Lightweight, impact-resistant polyurea front plate paired with high-quality leather back and straps.
-
Maintenance-free: The polyurea plate is rust-proof, dent-resistant, and requires no oiling.
-
Ergonomic Profile: Sculpted chest apex and ribcage contour allow for excellent mobility.
-
Modular Integration: Designed to match the Mercenary set, but compatible with most Epic Armoury plate elements.
-
Adjustable: Secured via full grain leather straps at the shoulders and sides for a custom fit.
-
Sizes: S/M, L/XL
Fit, adjustment & care
The strap system handles most sizing on its own, but for a closer fit, you can gently reshape the material itself using heat. Apply heat to the inside of the piece rather than the painted exterior, so the material becomes flexible without damaging the finish.
-
Finish: The base material underneath the painted surface is black, so over time, scratches and general wear may reveal this black color underneath.
-
Easy touch-ups: Minor cosmetic damage, such as scuffs or scratches can be simply repaired at home using a primer and acrylic hobby paints (such as Army Painter or Citadel).
-
Leather care: The leather straps should be maintained like any other full-grain leather product, with occasional conditioning to keep them supple and long-lasting.
-
A living finish: Wear and patina are a natural part of your armor's lifecycle and can be expected with regular use, adding to the authentic, battle-worn character of the piece.
